WILMINGTON, Del.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
The Bancorp Bank, N.A. (“Bank”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Bancorp, Inc. (“Company”) (NASDAQ: TBBK) recently committed to donating a total of $1 million to be distributed between three distinguished watershed conservation organizations over the next three years. In line with The Bancorp’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, the Bank partnered with The New York Botanical Garden, Friends of The Big Sioux River, and the Delaware Nature Society, to support their invaluable work.
“At The Bancorp, we recognize the importance of preserving our watersheds and contributing to our communities,” said Damian Kozlowski, The Bancorp President and Chief Executive Officer. “By supporting these organizations, The Bancorp is taking a proactive step toward ensuring the health and well-being of our ecosystem for generations to come. I am humbled to create a meaningful environmental impact, with a particular focus on waterway conservation that directly influences the lives of our employees and their communities.”
The organizations receiving donations are each located in close proximity to three primary office locations of The Bancorp and reach a large portion of its employee population.
The New York Botanical Garden, located in New York, New York, is a champion of plant research and conservation. The organization launched the Bronx River Watershed Health & Resilience initiative to protect the native biodiversity and keep the Bronx River healthy as it is New York City’s only freshwater resource. New York Botanical Garden collaborates with other conservation organizations and volunteers to improve the health of the river and make a positive impact to its surrounding communities.
Friends of the Big Sioux River, located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota – the Bank’s headquarters, is dedicated to the protection and restoration of the Big Sioux River, its watershed, and improving the water quality through community education and building a conservation outlook. The Big Sioux River is the largest water resource for Sioux Falls and its surrounding communities.
Delaware Nature Society, with sites in Wilmington— the Company’s headquarters, Hockessin, and Milford, Delaware, focuses on the preservation of land, wildlife, and watersheds. Driven by three main pillars, education, conservation, and advocacy, the Delaware Nature Society concentrates its watershed preservation and restoration on tributaries of the Delaware River. In tandem, its wildlife and land preservation programs have a direct impact on the water quality of the Christina River, the Mispillion River, the Delaware River, and the neighboring areas.
“Our support of The New York Botanical Garden, Friends of The Big Sioux River, and the Delaware Nature Society, extends beyond environmental impact; we strive to offer our employees meaningful opportunities for engagement,” continued Kozlowski. “The Green Team, one of The Bancorp’s Employee Resource Groups, plays a key role in fostering environmental friendliness throughout the Bank and in our surrounding communities. These partnerships provide our employees with avenues for hands-on volunteerism and education.”
